Things you can do when making trips in cold conditions:

• Carry a flask with a hot drink to stay warm.

• Carry a red triangle to warn drivers if you break down.

• Keep a torch in your vehicle.

• Check that your spare tyre is road-worthy and that the pressure is correct.

• Make sure your car jack and tools are in working order.
